Overview



Students gather to find out the prominent role that water plays in native culture and practice now and in ages past. This activity will be run by teacher/elders from local First Nations.

Heritage and Citizenship, Grade 3 (Early Settlements in Upper Canada)

Identify the First Nations peoples in Upper Canada around 1800, say where they lived and describe their lifestyles (S.E)
Describe what early settlers learned from First Nation peoples that helped them adapt to their new environment (S.E)
Compare and contrast aspects of life in early settler and/or First Nation children in Upper Canada and in their own community today (S.E)

Heritage and Citizenship, Grade 4 (Medieval Times)

Relate significant elements of medieval societies to comparable aspects of contemporary Canadian communities (S.E)

Heritage and Citizenship, Grade 5 (Early Civilizations)

Identify and compare the ways in which people in various early civilizations met their physical and social needs, including how they interacted with and used the natural environment (O.E)
Compare and respond to myths and legends from two or more early civilizations (S.E)
Identify important values and beliefs in two or more early civilizations and describe how they affected daily life (S.E)
