Children's Water Festival

Chatham Kent

Great Water Race

Overview

Students continue their study of porosity and permeability by watching how quickly water passes through sand, gravel, clay and fractured limestone. Students pour water into cylindrical containers. The containers are then turned over and the students observe how the differences in materials and slope affect the speed of water movement. Students are introduced to the concepts of slope and angle and observe their effect on how water moves through the Earth.
