Overview



Just how much of our water in the world is potable Students will learn through a very simplified but fun demonstration. This activity will be repeated throughout the festival site as it puts the issue of water conservation and protection in perspective for students

Life Systems, Grade 4 (Habitats and Communities)

Describe ways in which humans interact with habitats and the effects of these interactions on the communities within (O.E.)
Identify various factors (e.g. availability of water)that affect plants and animals in a specific habitat (S.E)

Earth and Space Systems, Grade 5 (Conservation of Energy and Resources)

Evaluate ways in which humans use energy and resources, the immediate and long-term effects of these uses on society and the environment, and the necessity for conservation of energy and natural resources (O.E)
Describe ways in which humans interact with habitats and the effects of these interactions on the communities within (S.E.)
Analyze human use of energy and natural resources and the impact of this use on society and the environment (S.E.)
Use the skills of scientific inquiry to investigate needs and problems related to protecting the environment and conserving energy and resources (S.E.)
