Qualifications:
Post secondary education in Environmental Studies, Science or Education preferred.
Knowledge and experience with Event Planning and Management.
Above average communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with fundraising.
Computer Literacy, experience with Microsoft Office, Internet Research.
Ability to perform some physical work and heavy lifting and work in an indoor and outdoor environment.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
Ability to perform at a highly professional level while working with Festival partner organizations, sponsors and media relations.

Water Festival Coordinator Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate the planning, set-up and implementation of the Festival. Festival runs Sept. 22-25, 2008.
- Coordinator must be available to work extra hours the week of the Festival
- Be responsible for running a broad range of duties from administration to physical work.
- Development of a strategy to help ensure the long-term sustainability of the Festival.
- Coordinate the development of Activity Centres and new educational materials as required.
- Participate as a member of the Steering Committee and assist each Sub-committee to ensure coordination of activities between committees and notify Festival Steering Committee members of meetings, provide agendas, record, and distribute minutes.
- Liaise with Festival partners and sponsors and represent the Festival, as requested by the Festival Steering Committee, at events, meetings, presentations, and media interviews.
- Liaise with coordinators of existing Festivals.
- Write funding proposals and solicit community donations.
- Recruitment and training of Festival Volunteers.
- Coordinate the booking, confirmation and busing of the students attending the Festival.
- Liaise with local School Boards; Plan and present Teacher Training Workshops.
- Be responsible for maintaining all Festival related materials.
- Prepare a final report for the Steering Committee and sponsors and ensure all mandatory sponsor reports are completed and filed on time.
Salary:
This is a part-time, 20 week position, funded through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Coordinator shall be paid at a rate of $18/hr., for 15 hrs./wk. This is an ideal ‘work from home’ position for someone based in Chatham-Kent.
Coordinator reports to the Festival Project Supervisor.
Festival-related travel within the Chatham-Kent area will be covered at a rate of thirty cents ($0.30) per kilometer. Any travel outside of Chatham-Kent must receive approval from the Festival Steering Committee.
